A weekend visit to Antwerp
The city of Antwerp, a town where I have lived and studied when I was 14-years old. Back then the city looked very different than it does nowadays. Especially, because I am not a 14 years old girl anymore. Of course my view and interest have changed.
So I decided to rediscover this beautiful city during a weekend trip.
Below I will share my thoughts with you;
Antwerp:
1. Het Eilandje/The small Island
2. Historical City Centre
3. T’ Zuid/ South Antwerp
My personal Favourites:
1. Visit the MAS to enjoy a panoramic view of the beautiful harbour-city and be amazed by the trails the history left behind. You can see these trails on the inside and outside of the museum, free of charge.
2. Strolling away on a nice Sunday afternoon at ‘the place to be’, the Kloosterstraat. Here you can find cute design shops, second-hand furniture and most of all a lot of vintage. The most beautiful thing about it, is the fact that it is open on Sunday, when the rest of the city is sleeping. When you need a break from all the nice shops, you can enjoy a real Antwerp tradition ‘a Bolleke’, Antwerp beer in one of the hip cafes. One of my favourites is the Jazz café, Dancing Chocola. Here you can relax in nice atmosphere, with nice music and cool people.
3. Visit the M HKA, Museum of modern arts. At the moment you can also find a fascinating exposition about the artist ‘Panamarenko’.
4. Visit the central station of Antwerp! This is a beautiful place to make a lot of pictures and enjoy the beautiful architecture.
Which hotel will you stay in?
In Antwerp you can find hotels very easily. But I prefer to look for nice B&B’s or design hotels, which you can find in the centre e and make your stay even more special. For my stay in Antwerp I choose HotelO Sud. This is a trendy and nice design hotel, in the lively area of South Antwerp.
Tip! Choose the Eco-room, it is beautiful with a clear use of light and sustainable use of furniture. It even has a wooden bath in the middle of the room!

Making a City-Tour?
Antwerp is a city with an amazing history, which plays part in different kinds of scenes. Of course there is a reason why each year around 2 million tourist visit the city. It is mostly know for being one of the worlds leading harbour, for decades. It’s also very famous for the diamante-industry, fashion, art (Rubens), design and theatre. Next to all of these things, Antwerp is very much loved due to its shopping area. You can have a perfect time going on a shopping spree in this city!
So this city has a lot of different things to offer, this is why you can also see this diversity in my city-tours! I choose to offer a lot of different kinds of aspects and tours.
